Rooted in the Land. Built on Science.
Our Mission To vitalize human health by reconnecting it to the land,
using regenerative nutrition and functional medicine to help people feel stronger, clearer, and more resilient—while supporting ranchers and ecosystems across the West.
A New Frontier for Healing
A New Frontier for Healing
In the American West, health has always been tied to the land. Somewhere along the way, our food systems and our healthcare systems drifted apart—food became products, the land was pushed to exhaustion, and people were treated as symptoms rather than whole ecosystems.
Nourish West was born from a different belief: that resilient human health cannot be separated from resilient soil, animals, and communities. As a functional medicine–trained practitioner, grounded in regenerative ranching and eco-nourishment, our founder saw the same patterns repeated, from depleted soils to inflamed guts, from stressed ecosystems to stressed bodies.
So we set out to build a new kind of frontier: one where regenerative agriculture meets functional healing. At Nourish West, we connect the dots from pasture to plate to patient, designing care that honors the microbiomes of soil, rumen, and human alike.
We partner with regenerative ranchers, prioritize nutrient-dense, ethically raised animal foods, and offer individualized, science-based care that respects tradition and terroir. This is modern medicine with Western grit:
Vitalizing the body. Healing the land.
Our Vision A West where healthier people, herds, and habitats reinforce one another—
where regenerative ranching is the norm, nutrient-dense foods are accessible, and healthcare recognizes that healing the land is inseparable from healing the body.
Hi, I’m Sara! An Eco-Nutritionist Rooted in Both Worlds
Meet Sara Keough, MS, CNS, LDN
Sara Keough is a board certified, licensed clinical nutritionist who has spent over ten years helping patients across the country solve chronic health problems, including digestive disorders, autoimmune disease, mental health struggles, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions. Her process works like detective work. Using stool microbiome analysis, toxin and organic acid testing, fatty acid panels, and comprehensive blood work, she identifies the specific imbalances driving each patient's symptoms and builds a personalized protocol to restore function, not just manage it.
Bridging Agriculture and Health
Sara's expertise reaches beyond the clinic. She is one of the few practitioners who works directly in both healthcare and agriculture, and that experience shapes what she teaches. As a nationally recognized keynote speaker, she has traveled the country educating farmers, ranchers, healthcare providers, and consumers on what she calls the soil gut axis: the direct line between how food is grown, the health of the microbiome in soil, and the health of the microbiome in the human body.
Sara has spoken for the American Nutrition Association, Nutrien Ag Solutions, and grazing and soil health coalitions across multiple states, with talks like Meat is Medicine and The Gut Brain Connection reaching audiences from Montana to Maryland.
Coming Home to the Land
Sara's path started before nutrition. She began her career in ecological conservation in Colorado, working in the field until a deeper calling pulled her toward health and healing. That early training in environmental science stayed with her. It shaped how she now sees the human body: not as an isolated system, but as an ecosystem nested inside a larger one. Today Sara lives on a regenerative cattle ranch in Montana, where she is pursuing advanced training in soil health and regenerative grazing alongside her clinical work. Seeing patients while working the land is not a contradiction for her.
That is the whole point. That is the mission behind Nourish West: helping people heal their inner ecosystem while helping the land heal too.
